Roci as we know, faired rather worse than I in the crash that ended the last attempt on The Loneliest Road. His demise means that the new journey will be on a new shiny Electraglide rented from Eagle Rider.
On the 14th of May, Rachael and I will meet Mark and Jayne on the Golden Gate bridge and start over for Ocean City. This time we are going to make it without a hitch! The plan is to follow Route 50 where it's interesting but to make detours and take in other sights on the way. Final plans are being worked on now.
Lots of other prep required, like buying Rachael some gear and going on a few trial rides. This is necessary because she has never been on a bike before. I think its rather brave agreeing to a 3000 mile bike journey without any knowledge of what its like. But that's our rash redhead for you. She is already horrified by the small luggage allowance. Its less than Easyjet.
I'm hoping to meet up with my friend Jeanie Roberts when we get near to Wichita and who knows, perhaps Sarah Blackburn as well. That rather depends on whether she wants to, and if she isn't at college somewhere miles way from Garden City.
