Bayous

Rode from New Orleans along the coast and followed the road into the wild Bayous.
Had my second fuel scare. Stopped beside some builders to ask if they knew where I could find gas. The answer was 30 miles back the way I came. The alternative was 50 miles ahead. As I could make neither they kindly gave me a gallon from their generator. How kind is that?
Pressed on to Port Arthur, my first port of call in Texas. I discovered why there was no mention of it in the guidebook. What a dump. Mile after mile of refineries. Drove an extra 30 miles to get to the next place to stay. Not a great deal better...
