Alpine

Well I set off with extra gas taped to bike, safe in the knowledge that I would be able to make it to Sanderford without pushing the thing. Found gas after 40 miles. Hmmm. Filled up with gas after another 20 miles. Hmmm. Confirms my view that most people don't know much about anywhere 30 miles from home.

What a great ride though. Beautiful scenery. Stopped at the original saloon used by Judge Roy Bean 'the law west of Pecos'. Its strange to think the West was 'wild' just over a hundred years ago.

Spoke to some very nice people at the gas station in Sanderson. BMW rider and his wife who have spent years exploring the USA by bike.
Recommended I go north via Yellowstone Park but I'll have to be careful choosing my route east as the highest passes don't open till Memorial day! The best one over the Rocky Mountains is at 12 thousand feet and will still be snowed in now. Likely to through snow whichever way I go at this time of year....
