On the 31st March 2009 I set off for a 2 month tour of the USA on a Harley Davidson, hoping to discover the 'real' America. I planned to finish the trip on Memorial Day, joining 12 thousand other Harleys riding into Washington DC. Sadly my journey ended on Route 50 just outside Garden City in Kansas. On the 12th May 2013 I complete the journey in the good company of Rachael, Mark, Jayne and Jeremy.
Hello, Mike: Delighted to see you have not yet been arrested for carrying a fuel can on a bike. Way to go! If you tell us the states you are headed we can look up the bail bond laws... Gutted to hear that you dropped Roci. Hope you are OK. But more importantly what parts does Roci need and where do we send these? As regards the problem of conversations with other than guy bikers, I suggest telling them its bored-out and is actually a Softail in disguise. In the States, of all places, you just know that size matters... And did you go to every Hooters in the Lone Star State? Do you now have the world's most desirable list of cow girl phone numbers? When will you be listing this on eBay? Seriously, it is good to see you slowing down a bit and soaking up some of the magic of this place. I think you are right - perhaps the awful experience with the computer charger was an omen. Enjoy New Mexico, it is breath-taking. Look forward to joining you for Rolling Thunder. There isnothing like this. Nothing. Take care. Best regards, FatBoy, Washington DC.
ReplyDeleteMike: Forgot to suggest that when in New Mexico it's just really important - for all kinds of reasons - to stand looking out of the actual jailhouse window where Billy the Kid shot the Sheriff. (He actually shot the Deputy, but who cares.) Stand in a bit of history and soak it up. Lots of Park Rangers, by the way. And they really don't have a sense of humor about speeding. Best, Mark
