Fallon

We have a big day tomorrow as we need to see off the Loneliest Road so that we can find stops with more interest. Looking at the map, there is the remains of a Pony Express Station with a visitor centre near Cold Springs. It's one of the few still remaining and its one that was involved in the longest return journey by a single rider. 'Poney Bob Haslam' received mail from San Francisco at Friday Station and rode 190 miles East to deliver it to Smith's Creek. After a rest of just 9 hours he rode with the West bound mail all the way back again; A 380 mile round trip. He passed through Cold Springs station only to find that the Station Keeper had been murdered by Indians, and all the horses stolen.

If we buy a picnic lunch we can stop again near Antelope peak at the picnic site. If not, lunch in Eureka. If I remember it correctly, its just a single street with a couple of saloons on it. They did look interesting though!
So let's see what happens. The best laid plans etc.....
